Speaker & Comedian: Insights into American Life

I spent nearly twenty years as a professional nightclub comedian in New York. Eventually I moved over to become a professional speaker to companies, organizations and their stressed people. My presentation has naturally included standup comedy, because it was baked into my life and speaking. Over time my content has morphed over to more of an insight, teaching and even counseling role. It has been a rewarding experience being able to bring comedy into the learning I was accumulating in my ongoing graduate work. After all, I had accumulated several graduate degrees in urban studies, social work, mental health, psychotherapy, health psychology and even theology. It seemed natural to fuse the all these ‘disciplines’ together. And I have had a great career ride that continues. And shaking all this together with my work as a psychotherapist, police chaplain and trauma specialist I have become a professional with blended insights into modern life and our challenges. I love my work, my learning and my sharing with a clear motivation for helping bring insight and wellness to worried people. Given my eclectic background and training, I sometimes have difficulty defining my expertise in whole. But maybe this is the way: I am a confident authority on what makes modern life particularly difficult. I understand American life and culture. I know the root drivers that roil our individual and collective lives. I have helpful insights and love to share them. Oh, and you will laugh as well. I look forward to speaking to your gathering.
